One day I was perusing my normal blogs, and I ran into this great wedding which featured this amazing vintage soda bar...

I liked it so much that I planned to have one at my own wedding (and still do). I absolutely love the fun and kid-like quality of old sodas and most people I've told about my plan to serve them get so excited about it. Plus the cool addition of color it can add to your wedding makes it that much better. I love the rainbow-esque quality of this pic, but you could serve sodas only in your wedding colors too....especially if orange or brown or purple are your colors. There seem to be a lot of those!
Well I had researched where to find vintage sodas, since the only place I know around here is a vintage soda shop about 3 hours away, and I couldn't order them wholesale--I'd have to buy them individually. When I looked around the internet, one person told me about BevMo. Click here to go directly to their soda shop. It had a great selection of vintage sodas and you could order individually or sometimes in packs.
I only knew of it as an online store, but when I was on my way to the dry cleaner in La Jolla to drop off my mom's dress for her wedding I looked to my right and saw BevMo!!! I thought I'd only get to see it, but when we pulled out my mom's wedding dress and it didn't have any wrinkles we decided to forgo the cost of pressing and stop by BevMo! instead. I wasn't the only one to have fun in there (mom bought a lot of liquor and tequila minis for everyone), but here are the shots I took of some of their many vintage sodas. My new stepsister Danae says that this top picture (Cheerwine) is really popular in the South, but I'd never heard of it, so we'll definitely have to order some.
They have an even bigger selection of beers, wines, liquors, pretty much anything to drink you can imagine there. I actually found the beers my fiancee' loves from his home state of Quebec there and had to bring him some of them--aren't I nice? Normally I can only find them at Cost Plus near the holidays, so both of us were excited.
If you are lucky enough to live in California (where they seem to be everywhere according to their website) or Arizona, I envy you. Until now, I'll just buy my sodas online. But good to know surprises come in all shapes and sizes...and flavors!
